Born and raised in Cyprus, near the sun-drenched shores of Larnaca, Nick's love for the sea was instilled early on. His grandfather, a seasoned fisherman, would bring home fresh catches of shrimp and lobster, which his grandmother would transform into delicious meals. These early experiences ignited a lifelong passion for the bounty of the ocean.
However, as Nick grew older, he witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of overfishing. The once abundant shrimp population dwindled, a stark reminder of the fragility of marine ecosystems. Years later, fate brought him love and a new perspective when he married a woman from Brazil. He discovered that Brazil had a thriving aquaculture industry, with shrimp and lobster farms meeting the growing global demand.
Seeing an opportunity to combine his passion for seafood with a sustainable solution, Nick and his wife founded Ocean Gems. They carefully select shrimp and lobster farms in Brazil that prioritize responsible farming practices and environmental stewardship. Ocean Gems provides high-quality seafood to Cyprus, Europe, and the USA, ensuring a delicious and sustainable option for seafood lovers.
